WAL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Is your laboratory certified?

Yes, Western Analytical Laboratory is accredited by the National Voluntary Accreditation Program (NVLAP) through National Insitute of Standards and Technology. This means that Western Analytical undergoes thorough proficiency testing twice a year and an onsite accreditation audit every other year. Click here to view our accreditation certificates.

2. How long has Western Analytical been in business and what is the experience of the staff?

Western Analytical Laboratory has been testing asbestos samples since 1995. Our staff has experience in asbestos testing beyond this; the average experience of our staff is 25 years. The laboratory has tested many thousands of samples up to this point. We are known with our customers for our fast, responsive and courteous service.

3. Do you sell asbestos test kits?

Asbestos "testing" kits are essentially sampling kits comprising nothing more than a few Ziploc bags along with instructions on how to collect and submit samples for analysis. They cost a few pennies to the vendors selling them. Don't be misled by the low cost of these kits. In addition to paying for the kit, you have to pay a testing fee for each kit/sample. By supplying your own Ziploc bags and following the simple instructions on our web site, you pay only the testing cost and get results within 24 hours, instead of more than a week if you purchase a test kit online.

4. How do I collect samples for testing?

There is a thorough step-by-step guide on sample collection and sumbittal on this website. Please click above to go there.

5. Can I send in my samples if I cannot deliver them myself?

Samples can be sent in by mail, UPS, FedEx, etc. The results will be available within 24 hours of receiving the samples. Click here for the submittal form.

After notifying the client, a report is prepared which is mailed to the client in one or two business days.
